Important Configuration Notes

  • Memory must be installed in pairs. Apple recommends four or eight identical DIMMs for best performance. Kingston offers memory in kits of two identical DIMMs. Kits may be installed one, two or four at a time.
  • Kingston KTA-MP667K2 kits support original 4-core systems only (dual-core Xeon).
  • New KTA-MP667AK2 kits support both 4-core and 8-core systems (dual-core and quad-core Xeon).
  • Original Mac Pro Workstations do not support 800MHz FBDIMMs. Kingston KTA-MP800K2/xxx kits, if installed, will only run at 667MHz.
  • SSD drive requires Kingston drive carrier, SNA-DC2/35 to install into 3.5" drive bay.
