Faster memory will clock down to run at optimal speed and voltage depending on processor model and number of modules installed.
Mixing x4 and x8 modules is allowed, however not within the same bank.

Due to chipset limitations, Quad Rank RDIMMs can only populate the first two DIMM banks (8 sockets per CPU). The third memory bank must be unpopulated. LRDIMM's do not have this limitation and all three DIMM banks can be populated.
Kingston offers both Registered RDIMM and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules. Registered and Load Reduced modules CANNOT be mixed within the same system.
