DIMMs A1-A8 are assigned to CPU 1, DIMMs B1-B8 are assigned to CPU 2, DIMMs C1-C8 are CPU 3, DIMMs D1-D8 are CPU 4. For configurations with two processors, DIMMs A1-A8 and DIMMs C1-C8 are assigned to CPU 1 while DIMMs B1-B8 and D1-D8 are assigned to CPU 2. Two processor configurations allow 16 DIMMs per processor using Dell's FlexMem Bridge to enable additional DIMM sockets.
Kingston's DDR3 1333MHz modules automatically clock down to 1066MHz or lower depending on which Intel Xeon processor is used.
Quad-Rank DIMMs mixed with Single- or Dual-Rank DIMMs, the QR DIMM needs to be in the slot with the white ejection tabs (the first DIMM slot in each channel). There is no requirement for the order of SR and DR DIMMs.
