Faster memory will clock down to run at optimal speed and voltage depending on processor model and number of modules installed.

Kingston recommends installing K4 kits for optimal quad channel performance configurations.
Higher density 4Gbit DRAM parts like 32GB Q4, 16GB Q8/D4, 8GB D8/S4, or 4GB S8 require Xeon E7 processors, with board revision 2.0 or higher. Older series Xeon 7500 or 6500 processors do not support 4Gbit DRAM parts. Use 16GB Q4, 8GB Q8/D4, or 4GB D8/S4 parts for older series.
