Android Basha – a premier technology YouTube channel in Jordan – has been captivating audiences for over 8 years with high quality, in-depth tech videos covering a wide range of products and gadgets. With over 1.5 million subscribers, Android Basha caters to both consumer and prosumer audiences, offering comprehensive coverage of smartphones, smart home tech, computing, 3D printing, electric vehicles, and virtual reality.
Android Basha's increasing workload, and expanded capabilities led them to evaluate their current video production storage system. The channel was relying on a local network storage system using HDD based servers to archive all production projects, ensuring the preservation of master video copies and enabling access to original material for future projects. However, this setup posed limitations when it came to editing projects directly off the network share.
Their objective was clear in needing network attached storage with exceptional speed and reliability to facilitate direct editing and project work, eliminating the need to transfer data to multiple editing stations. Their proposed solution involved utilising an on-site server integrated with Kingston DC600M SSDs and server memory, configured as a singular data pool with redundancy, operating as network shared storage among all designated workstations.
These workstations were equipped with 10GbE network interfaces, allowing seamless editing of 4K 10Bit projects directly from the server. This configuration mitigated potential data loss, avoiding frequent file transfers. Upon video project completion, data was retained on the server's SSD based storage before being archived on the HDD based storage server.
Before choosing Kingston, Android Basha evaluated three key factors: performance, reliability, and support. Kingston products consistently met their performance standards and proved very reliable. The technical support process with Kingston’s Ask an Expert team was hassle free and professional, with a dedicated team on hand to help.
The server, running on DC600M solid state drives and DDR4 server DRAM, seamlessly integrated into Android Basha's production workflow, significantly enhancing the smoothness and ease of working with large video files. The impact was instantly apparent, with read and write speeds approximately five times faster.
Unlike HDD based servers with limited cache that quickly depletes, the SSD based server acted as an efficient buffer. This enabled uninterrupted data scrubbing, simultaneous file editing, and transferring these across multiple workstations without delays or disruptions.
This solution provided Android Basha with a streamlined workflow, enduring storage capabilities, and improved consistency in output. It facilitated seamless integration into their operations and enhanced overall production efficiency.
Looking to the future, Android Basha plans to scale their operations effectively with this solution, preventing potential bottlenecks and ensuring seamless workflow continuity.
By choosing Kingston’s DC600M drives and server memory, Android Basha has not only improved their video production efficiency but have also positioned themselves for future growth and success, in the fast-paced world of technology content creation.
